I have a bit of organizing to do in regards to pictures and thoughts for blog posts which is why I haven't posted. My goal is perhaps to get it together by the time school gets out so I can get in a regular posting schedule. I am also thinking about turning some time over to the kids or the husband to write some posts. This blog is supposed to be about our life as well as my ramblings and whatever else, so why not have them contribute?
Until then, I found this meme by googling "ten on tuesday" (I had initially intended to blog yesterday in between working and things) where this blogger posts random questions every Tuesday and bunches of people in the blogosphere participate.
So here it goes . . .
1. Have you ever used Craigslist?
Not really. I posted an ad on there way back when I was first starting out with photography. I did get a couple of clients from that. I have never sold anything on there. Anything old or we weren't using anymore, we have always donated to someone who needed it or given it to DI or Goodwill. I have been on there recently though, looking for older, rugged furniture. This past winter, our cabin had a pipe burst flooding the cabin. We lost most everything in the flood due to water damage. I am currently on the hunt for furniture to replace what was lost.
2. Can you sew?
I can sew a straight line pretty well. I can work a basic pattern. I can mend. However, that is about the extent of my skills. My mother and sister are the ones both blessed with some sewing talent. My sister has made all the window coverings for her house and some of mine. She has also made slipcovers for furniture and things. My mom used to be a seamstress and when I was a child, she used to make a bunch of me and my sister's clothes. Hoping to learn how to quilt properly this summer (I am just starting out) and to do some cute skirts with my girls.
3. Do you pour syrup on your pancakes or dip your pancakes in syrup?
I do both. Although I prefer to dip because I don't like my food drowning in sauce or anything. My favorite kind of pancake is something called a Dutch baby which they serve at Original Pancake House. You eat it with a bit of whipped butter, lemons, and powdered sugar.
4. Rain storms: Love them or hate them?
LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! As someone who lives in the desert, where a drop from the sky is a rare thing, I treasure when the rain comes. I love the smell in the air, I love how all the dust gets washed away, I love the dark clouds. One of my favorite moments in my life is curling up on the porch of our cabin with my family as we watched the rain storm.
5. Do you like swimming?
Another no-brainer. Like duh! I live where it gets to be 115+ in the summer. Swimming has and always been the best way to cool off in the summer. I do hate though what the pool water does to my hair and skin.
6. What kind of drink do you order at Sonic?
A Cherry Limeade Chiller. It is where they take the cherry limeade and blend it with vanilla ice cream and make a shake out of it. It is yummy. It is especially yummy during happy hour when things are half off!
7. Are you funny?
Maybe funny-looking. I am not know for being funny but I do have a sense of humor and I have been known to make people laugh (or laugh at me)
8. At what age will your kids get cell phones?
3 out of my 4 children have them. In a busy family where everyone is going in a million different directions at once, they have become a necessity. I also love the beauty of text messaging. You can get a quick answer for most anything or tell someone something quickly. It's wonderful when you are in a time crunch and don't have the time to talk. Or sometimes can't talk. We got our girls cell phones when they went to 6th grade. I might break down and get my son a cell phone early though. He is just as busy as the girls and it would give me piece of mind to know that he has one to contact us if he needs to when we are not around.
9. What is your favorite vegetable?
Asparagus. Love it. We eat it at least once a week in our house. We serve it roasted with a bit of sea salt and olive oil.
10. Were you a Girl Scout?
Nope. I may have been a brownie for like 2 seconds way back in the first grade but otherwise no. However, I have been an Activity Day leader and YW leader and have been actively involved with Girl's Camp. I love camp. I think it is a great experience.
OK. Break over. TIme to get back to work.
ttys.
